Autumn Sun glowing through the Trees

What if both could be true?

To be grateful for autumn… and still miss the summer.

To appreciate the changing leaves, the golden glow of shorter days, the crisp mornings that invite you to reach for your favourite jumper and still long for the warmth of the sun on your skin, the freedom of heading out without a jumper, the light that lingered long into the evening.

Both can be true.

Autumn always seems to arrive with a whisper of reflection. It reminds us that transition can be both beautiful and bittersweet. That endings and beginnings often arrive hand in hand.

There’s something deeply human in that.

Because the truth is we live most of our lives in the space between opposites…

We can love where we are and long for what was.
We can feel joy and sadness.
We can want company and crave alone time.
We can give to others and still need to receive.

And yet, so often, we judge ourselves for feeling more than one thing at once.

We tell ourselves we should choose – that it’s wrong to want rest when others need us, that we should be content with what we have, that gratitude and longing can’t coexist.

But they can.
They do.
They always have.

Embracing the ‘and’ is one of the kindest things we can do for ourselves.

It’s an invitation to hold space for the complexity of being human – to stop making ourselves wrong for feeling deeply.

You can love your family, your work, your life  and still need time away.
That doesn’t make you selfish. It makes you human.
It makes you honest.

And here’s something else that’s true:
You can live fully in the present and have something beautiful to look forward to.

That’s why I create retreats like Meditation and Mindfulness – an intentional space where you can pause, rest, and reconnect with yourself.
A space to breathe again, to refill your cup, to remember what it feels like to just be.

So if you’ve been feeling stretched thin…
If you’ve been giving endlessly to everyone around you…
If you’ve forgotten what it’s like to simply receive…

This is your gentle reminder:
You don’t have to choose between them and you.
You can hold both.
