Lately, life has been pulling me in many different directions – work, soul work, holding space for others, socialising, networking, travelling. All good things. All things I love. But also very peoply things.
And after a few weeks like that, I feel it. My energy dips. My mind feels full. My body starts to slow down before I do.
I had every intention of getting back to the gym this week, but I’ve been so tired that I simply haven’t had it in me. I could sit here and berate myself for not sticking to the plan – or I can acknowledge that this is just where I am right now.
That awareness itself is a practice in mindfulness.
Because here’s the thing – we don’t often plan to pause.
Pause tends to happen when we’ve reached the edge of our capacity. When we’re running on empty. When our body whispers “enough” and we finally listen.
But true self-care – the kind that sustains rather than patches – is about building pause into our lives. Planning time not just to switch off, but to truly reconnect. Not waiting until we’re exhausted, but recognising that rest is an essential part of showing up well – for ourselves and for others.
This weekend, that’s exactly what I’m doing. Planning to pause. To rest. To refill. To sit in stillness without guilt. Because I know that next week, I’ll return clearer, calmer, and more energised.
Rest isn’t indulgent. It’s intelligent.
It’s what allows us to create, connect, lead and live with intention.
And if you’ve been feeling pulled in too many directions lately – maybe it’s time to plan your own pause too.
🪷 Join me for Meditation & Mindfulness in Menorca, 24–28 September 2026 – a retreat designed to help you slow down, reconnect and rediscover your balance.
Because the truth is, the year moves fast. And if we don’t intentionally create moments of rest, the opportunities for true restoration can easily slip away.
So this is your reminder:
You don’t need to earn your rest.
You just need to honour it.
