One day wellbeing retreat – 13 June 2026

Permission to Pause is a one-day wellbeing retreat for people who spend much of their lives in doing mode – responding, planning, leading, holding responsibility – often without giving themselves space to slow down and simply be.

I’m Amy Jaggers, an intentional living and mindfulness practitioner and the founder of La Vida Lagom. My work is rooted in the Scandinavian philosophy of lagom – not too much, not too little, just the right amount. I support professionals to step off autopilot and reconnect with balance, clarity, and presence in a way that feels realistic and sustainable.
Permission to Pause is an extension of that work.
The retreat is held at Paus, a beautiful oasis of calm in the Cambridgeshire countryside, inspired by the same philosophy of balance and simplicity. The setting mirrors the intention of the day – calm, grounded, and unhurried.
This is not a workshop. There’s nothing to fix, learn, or optimise. Instead, it’s an invitation to stop doing and practise being – even if just for a day.
Who is this day for?
This retreat is for you if:
- You’re a professional who spends a lot of time in your head and on the go
- You feel tired beneath the busyness, even when life looks “fine” from the outside
- You rarely stop long enough to check in with how you actually feel
- You’re craving space, quiet, and time away from screens and schedules
- You want rest without guilt or the need to earn it
- You’re open to slowing down in the company of others
You don’t need any experience with meditation or wellbeing practices. You don’t need to have the answers. Just a willingness to pause.
Who This Day Is Not For
Permission to Pause may not be the right fit if:
- You’re looking for a fast-paced, content-heavy programme
- You want tools, strategies, or performance optimisation
- You’re uncomfortable with stillness, reflection, or unstructured time
- You’re not able to step away from emails and messages for the day
This day is intentionally slow. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is mandatory.

A gentle flow for the day…
We begin the day at 10am with a welcome circle, offering time to arrive and settle. There’s optional cacao, followed by a guided meditation to ground the body and quiet the mind.
Midway through the day, we’ll gather to enjoy a freshly prepared, locally sourced meal at the Hilltop Bistro. Expect wholesome, European-inspired food made with PAUS-grown vegetables, seasonal ingredients, and a love of simple, home-cooked meals – nourishing for both body and soul.
The afternoon opens into spacious, unstructured time. You might choose to relax in the hot tubs, sauna, or cold pools, or simply slow things down – reading, journalling, chatting quietly, or enjoying the surrounding countryside. There’s no agenda and no expectation.
Later in the day, we gently return together via the barefoot nature walk, with the option to walk in shared silence. This becomes a moment of grounding in nature – feeling the earth beneath your feet, tuning into the sounds around you, and settling into the quiet presence of others.
We close the day with a final circle before departing in the early evening (no later than 6pm).
What to bring
- A small rucksack or bag for your personal belongings
- A refillable water bottle
- Swimwear and a towel (for the hot tubs, sauna, and cold pools)
- Easy-access footwear such as sandals or sliders
Mats, bolsters, and blankets for time in circle are provided.
What not to bring
- Your to-do list
- A sense of urgency
- Expectations of productivity or performance
- Pressure to take part in everything – all experiences are optional
Bring yourself as you are. Rest when you need to. Join in when it feels right.
I know that committing to a whole weekend away can feel like a lot, especially with busy lives and full diaries. Permission to Pause is intentionally just one day – no packing, no long planning, no pressure to be away for longer than feels doable.
It’s a simple invitation:
to slow down,
to breathe,
and to give yourself permission to pause.
